Episode 33: Small Soldiers (1998)

Join us for our review of Small Soldiers, a very weird movie the three of us grew up watching about super advanced toy soldiers waging war on their Gorgonite Scum enemies and the suburban neighborhood they inhabit. It featured some funny performances from David Cross, Denis Leary and especially Phil Hartman. We hope you like this return to the world of Joe Dante! Not since they days of The ‘Burbs… Join us again next time for 1989’s Road House!

Pass the Peanuts 5: Sonic Talk

We recently had a conversation centered around Sonic the Hedgehog, comparing the weirdass new live action trailer with an earlier fan film and also talking about the games and the even weirder fan base! Mack drops in a sports update to wrap it up. Enjoy!

Episode 32: Shrek 2 (2004)

This week we review Shrek 2, the massively successful sequel to the massively successful film about a green guy who eats bugs and bathes in filth. Was it better or worse than the original? Why was the king such a wuss? What was up with Pinocchio’s under garments? Why is Donkey so annoying this time? These questions and more on the modern day School of Athens that is Mondo Cool Movie Dudes.  Join us next time for Small Soldiers!

We are no longer on Youtube.

Our page was banned from the platform quite a while ago for unspecified violations of their guidelines.  An appeal was attempted but didn’t go anywhere.  This is a shame, as we were getting a lot plays there, and we hope it wasn’t an inconvenience for our listeners.  To those of you who’d been subscribed to us on there, we appreciate your support and hope you stuck with the show through other means.

Some added features!

We’ve recently added some pages to this site to make it more user friendly.  Until a few days ago, we only had all of our episodes posted here in big SoundCloud widgets, listed from newest to oldest on our home page.  If you wanted to find one or our earlier episodes here it would take you a while to wade through everything, so we made some additions.  The first three narrow the episodes down by type.

This link brings you to our movie reviews.

This one brings you to our off topic episodes.

And this one brings you to our clip shows.

Lastly, this page displays a list of links to all of our episodes.

That last page gives you an easy way to scan through all of our episodes without the SoundCloud widgets taking up space.  The episodes are listed in order of release, with movie reviews first, then off topic episodes and finally clip shows.  All four of these new pages can be accessed from the menu box in the top right corner of the screen.

Episode 31: Mask (1985)

That’s right, we’re not dead yet! For the first time in 14 months we’ve re-emerged to bring you our long promised review of 1985’s Mask, starring Eric Stoltz, Cher and Sam Elliott. It’s the story of a seriously disfigured kid who’s pretty much raised by a biker gang, but still gets the most out of life. It turns out to be anything but the Hallmark Hall of Fame style schlock that we envisioned.

Thanks for waiting, and join us again soon for 2004’s Shrek 2!
